Who said Halloween was just for kids?! If it were up to me, I’d still be out there on October 31st knocking on doors for Twix bars, Twizzlers, and Reese’s peanut butter cups galore. Those are my absolute favorites!

What is your favorite Halloween candy? My husband, Patrick, goes crazy for Snickers and our son, Zach, is a huge fan of Sour Patch Kids and Almond Joys.

Although I’m too grown for those Trick-or-Treating shenanigans anymore, I’m the perfect age for these Halloween creamsicle jello shots. And you are too if you’re over 21 that is!

Remember that delicious creamsicle ice pop you devoured during the hot summer months as a child?! Well, I’ve taken that same flavor profile and created a Halloween treat just for us adults.

What can I say, I was kind of tired of being left out…

Want to know the best part? It literally takes 5 minutes to put these creamsicle jello shots together. The hardest part is having to wait the 3 to 4 hours for the jello to set. I’d have to say it’s equally as frustrating as being a child on Halloween night and your parents not letting you eat ALL your candy in one sitting. I’m sure you’ve been there!

It takes patience, friends, but you can do it. I have faith in you!

When creating this jello shot recipe, I had to do the torturous job of taste testing a few in order to find the perfect combination of jello to vodka. It was a dreadful experience that I can vaguely remember because of all the alcohol I consumed…

I’m totally kidding you!The amount of alcohol is pretty minimal in these shots unless you consume all 12 on your own in one sitting. One cup of whipped cream vodka might be a little more than some can handle so show some restraint as hard as it may be.

In regards to the perfect combination of whipped cream vodka to jello, here are my two cents:

My personal preference for the perfect combination was 1 cup of whipped cream vodka. I didn’t feel as though the alcohol was overwhelming at all and I thought the creamsicle flavor really popped out.

I did, however, try a different combination with ½ cup of water and ½ cup of whipped cream vodka which still tasted good but didn’t give you that distinctive creamsicle flavor. I only share this with you in case you’re worried about consuming too much vodka and are looking to cut the alcohol content a tad.

And if you’re really worried, you can always do ¾ of a cup of water to a ¼ of a cup of vodka.

Basically you need a cup of liquid total for these jello shots to turn out.

With all that out of the way, let’s get to making these shots!

Here’s what you need to make this Halloween Creamsicle Jello Shot Recipe

3 oz. box of orange jello, 1 cup of orange soda (I used Fanta), 1 cup of whipped cream vodka (I used Pinnacle), whipped cream, black sugar/sprinkles, jello shot containers

Begin by laying out your jello shot containers. I found that placing them inside a cupcake pan made the transition from in and out the refrigerator so much easier. It just helps keep everything in place and spares you from losing precious drops of creamsicle heaven.

Next, bring one cup of orange soda to a boil. You’ll notice that the soda will sound like it’s popping throughout the entirety of it being on the stovetop. This is normal. You’ll know when the orange soda is at an actual boil when you see smoke coming from the pan and the liquid is rolling around like waves.

While the soda is coming to a boil, empty your package of orange jello into a heat-safe bowl.

Once the soda comes to a boil, add it to the orange jello powder and whisk away until the powder completely dissolves.

You’ll then want to grab your whipped cream vodka and add one cup to the jello mixture.

Transfer the liquid to a measuring cup or a bowl with a spout. This will save you from having a tremendous mess when pouring the liquid into the shot containers.

Pour the liquid into the shot containers leaving some space on the top to add your whipped cream prior to serving.

Place the jello shots in the refrigerator and let them thicken for 3 to 4 hours. *You can make these the night before your party too!

If you don’t plan on serving immediately, place the lids on top of your jello shots until it’s time to get the party started. The lids are also helpful if you’re transporting the shots to a friend’s Halloween Bash.

  7. Pour the liquid into the shot containers leaving some space on the top to add your whipped cream once the jello thickens.
  8. Place the jello shots in the refrigerator and let them set for 3 to 4 hours. *You can make these the night before your party too!
  9. If you don’t plan on serving immediately, place the lids on top of your shots until it’s time to get the party started. The lids are also helpful if you’re transporting the shots to another location.
  10. Right before serving, add a healthy helping of whipped cream on top and dust with black sugar or sprinkles.

Notes

For a jello shot with less alcohol, substitute 1/2 a cup of the whipped cream vodka with 1/2 a cup of water.
